This landscape design approach for this project replaces a conventional lawn-dominated thinking with a garden designed for increased biodiversity and functionality. The planting strategy incorporates lesser-known tree species, along with an understory of seasonal flowering plants and ornamental grasses, introducing a dynamic palette of colors and textures throughout the year. The selection of species ensures year-round variation, with bursts of color from flowering shrubs, contrasting foliage tones, and seasonal blooms.
The hardscape consists of gravel and selectively retained lawn areas to balance accessibility and permeability. At the front, the entrance transitions into a lawn enclosed by dense planting, creating a well-defined green buffer. The rear garden features a gravel surface with a small court shaded by trees, designed as a flexible space for outdoor dining or seating. A meandering gravel path connects these spaces within the landscape while enhancing its visual continuity.
