Near Kanjari Village, Ahmedabad

The lake design for the common plot of 'The Orchards' is part of a comprehensive masterplanning project near Kanjari village. Situated in a naturally low-lying area, the lake is designed to collect stormwater from the entire site and is left unlined to allow maximum percolation, with excess water drawn back for irrigation purposes.
The site’s abundance of water-loving tree species, like Pilu (Salvadora persica), inspired the landscape design of the lake as a ficus haven, with over six species of native ficus trees incorporated into the design. These trees thrive in moist, water-rich environments, making them perfectly suited to this location. The design includes a peripheral walkway with strategically spaced sit-outs, gravel courts and pavilions overlooking the lake. Rows of lush native grasses interspersed among the ficuses complement the built elements and create a buffer between the lake and the walkway edge, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
